Hard-fought win for the Texas Spurs to land in the semifinals of the UPSL Texas State Cup

The UPSL Texas State Cup is getting closer to its last rounds! Only 4 teams are still in the race to win the trophy and a $10,000 cash prize.

Texas Spurs FC is one of the teams that were able to secure themselves a place in the semifinals.
After a bye in the first round, their first obstacle was FC Revolution from Fort Worth in the round of 16. An interesting game that was solved in the second half and led to a 6-4 win for the Allen-based team.  From there they traveled all the way to San Antonio to play the Corinthians FC in the quarterfinals.

The game took place last Sunday and ended up being a really challenging one. The Texas Spurs found themselves against a really strong opponent. Both the teams showed great quality on the field and fought until the end to get the win. Really either of them would have deserved a chance to reach the final of the competition. In the end, the goal from Greyson Pinto was crucial for the Texas Spurs to come out of the game on top and earn a spot in the semifinals.

Nonprosoccer.com had the chance to get a comment on the game from Ed Puskarich, head coach for the Texas Spurs. "This was a great game, we played very organized against a good team and got the outcome we were looking for. It’s a tough request to ask these players to drive five hours out to play and jump right back in the car to drive five hours back. I’m proud of them for putting in the effort and hard work. I am looking forward to [the] semi finals."

Thanks to this hard-fought win, the Texas Spurs are moving on to the semifinals and can still still pursue the dream of taking the trophy and the cash prize home. Next weekend, they are set to play Matias Almeyda FC, winners of the Houston bracket.
We, at nonprosoccer.com, will continue to follow the competition in the semifinals and will bring you more match recaps and interviews next week. In the meantime, you can find all the results at this link.

Good luck to both Texas Spurs FC and San Antonio Corinthians in their preparation for next season, and a huge thanks to Coach Puskarich for taking the time to talk to us about the game!
